Karl Lagerfeld Designed 10 Affordable Spring Dresses in Honor of Vogue’s 125th Anniversary

by

Today, in celebration of the fact that Vogue is about 8.3 times as old as theFashionSpot, the inimitable Karl Lagerfeld released a limited-edition line of romantic, summery dresses. As the name implies, the Karl Lagerfeld Paris for Lord & Taylor x Vogue 125 collection is available exclusively at Lord & Taylor (or, more secifically, The Dress Address). Each design incorporates Vogue’s newly appointed signature flower, the American Beauty rose (as seen in the hit Kevin Spacey film). The floral-printed crepe slip dress and its cold-shoulder iteration are our personal faves.
For those not familiar with Lagerfeld’s many, many brands, consider “Paris” a synonym for “actually affordable.” Each of the 10 chic, cheery dresses in the collection costs between $148 and $198. Those on the higher end of the price spectrum are best suited to formal occasions (weddings, cocktail parties). The aforementioned printed slips are, as Vogue puts it, “great for a trip to the farmers’ market” when “paired with sneakers and a straw basket.”
Happy 125th anniversary, Vogue…and happy summer wardrobe shopping, everyone else. Click through the gallery below to peruse the collection.

Forget Flip Flops: Why You Should Slide Into a Pair of Slides This Season

by
Flip flops have always been a summer go-to. They’re easy to slip on, pretty comfy and enable you to flaunt your pedicure in all its glory. On the flip side, they’re usually flimsy and easy to slip out of. Lucky for all of us wanting to air out our feet now that the weather has finally turned, flip flops have now been kicked aside in favor of stylish slides.
Rihanna first introduced her now almost-sold-out bow slides to much shopper acclaim as they were relatively inexpensive and more stable than flip flops. The singer/actress/designer/Comme des Garçons champion is also set to bring back our childhood-fave jellies in the near future. Another blast from the past, Steve Madden has decided to resurrect its go-with-anything black Slinky platform.

While no title has been officially bestowed (we’re not quite sure who decides on these rankings, anyway), Who What Wear is questioning whether Miu Miu’s pearl-accented slides (both of the furry and fur-free variety) are the It shoe of the year. Not surprisingly, Miu Miu’s Fall 2016 slip-ons cost a pretty penny — 75,000 to 95,000 pennies, depending where you shop — and we’re guessing you’d rather save some funds to add a few extra pairs of sandals to your spring/summer repertoire.
With that in mind, we searched high and low to find stylish (read: no pool- or dorm bathroom-appropriate ones here) slides shoes for every budget. Whether you’re into fancy accents and embellishments, more reasonably priced furry friends or old-school Birkenstocks, we’ve got you (and your feet) covered.

Still in the Saddle: 9 Ways to Sport Fashion’s Most Versatile Handbag

ough they first became popular in the 1970s, saddle bags are once again dominating the handbag market. If you need proof of the saddle bag’s staying power, look no further than Chloe. The designer label keeps experimenting with this classic crossbody, adding and subtracting embellishments, swapping out one material for another and so on. Then again, no one has forgotten Dior’s saddle model. Immortalized on Sex and the City, it ranks right up there with the most iconic bags of all time.
With new options from brands like Altuzarra and Coach, street style pros are getting back in the saddle. Whether you lean towards feminine florals, 1970s revival or head-to-toe denim, let these fashion girls show how a saddle bag can be the perfect finishing touch to any outfit.

It’s Time to Fill Your Shopping Cart With Fashionable Fruit

by
Watching the Spring 2017 shows made us hungry. Smoothie ingredients paraded (or, in the case of Charlotte Olympia, danced) down the runways of New York, London, Milan and even Los Angeles. You know what they say, a fruit print a day keeps the sartorial blahs away.

Joseph Altuzarra believes that the antidote to our uncertain times is a healthy dose of vitamin C — sweet cherry prints dotted ruffled slip dresses, silky camis and flirty separates; sequined lemons adorned python blazers and semi-sheer evening dresses. Anna Sui’s Miss American Pie lineup favored cherries (in minidress form) over apples. Dolce & Gabbana, which has a thing for screen printing warm-weather fruits and other Sicilian delicacies onto its free-spirited designs, showed Carmen Miranda-esque headdresses (i.e., piles of fruit). Alessandro Michele demonstrated a similar taste for the tropical. One Gucci Spring 2017 dress came with sparkly, pineapple-shaped sleeves; another featured a blazer-style upper, pleated skirt and allover pineapple print. At Tommy Hilfiger and Gigi Hadid’s Venice Beach shindig, vintage-wash denim sported playful, fiber-rich patches. And who could forget Rosie Assoulin’s Resort 2017 masterpiece, the Salad Bar Gown?
